Western Kentucky University offered a full tuition scholarship at their WKU event this past weekend.  The scholarship with a value upwards of  $70,000 was won by Trinity High School Junior John Marscik.  John posted a perfect 5 - 0 score in the High School section of the event to win the scholarship.

This wonderful performance has earned John his college paid for 4 years.  All now he needs to do is maintain his grades in school and participate in the WKU club and team.

John is a regular at the Monday night tournaments and has played chess since elementary school.  This is exciting news for young chess players.  They can turn their love of the game into a conduit to higher education.

That deserves a huge congratulations, both to John for his great performance and to WKU for offering such a great prize! Way to go!

August 23, John crossed 2000 for the first time.  Now he is residing there with some outstanding events in September.  Congratulations to yet another 2000 in Kentucky.
